What the heck do you do when you have the devil living in your barn? You call in a few favors from your local senator; you get the SWAT team, a handful of Navy SEALS, and maybe even a few cops to chase him out! You don’t take no mess from the devil, right? Well, I can say Watch Over Us was built on a pact made with the devil, and as with all his nefarious dealings, the movie lost.
Watch Over Us is a movie that runs deep. Since arriving in America, Jon’s family was struck with a bit of misfortune. But after a deal is made, things suddenly looked good for the family. Sadly, much had to be given in order to have the things they wanted.
The movie tried to carry a heavy tone, after all the devil lived on the property, but it wasn’t out carried out in a way that made it scary. The air wasn’t heavy and the horror wasn’t horrific, but you got the idea it was supposed to be. The father even played more of the naive role, which made his daughters smarter and stronger in the end. I won’t even get started on his older son and brother!
Honestly, the story made sense, but it wasn’t carried out well, and the ending was a huge let down. The movie poster (A+ artwork) is creative and ominous though; totally not what you get when you watch the film! Check it out anywhere video is rented. It released in May of 2015.
