A young woman moves into a new home and finds a ouija board among some items left by the previous owner. She decides to give it a whirl and ends up unleashing the muscle-y, bug-eyed demon-thing (as seen in the poster) that basically wants to swallow her soul or drag her to hell (or some other Sam Raimi reference). Groovy.
Kudos to Andrea Ricca for all the work she did on this six-minute short: from directing to writing, from editing to the animation (and doing it all with no budget!); she certainly gets an A for effort.
That being said, The Spirit Board is a miss. An overplayed ouija board scenario mixed with errors in continuity, rough special effects and off-point acting make it difficult for this to be an effective horror short.
