First, let me say: when the Sharknado series began, I thought it was hilarious! I also thought it was supposed to be a serious movie. It wasn’t, and I thoroughly enjoyed the laughs. As the sequels were released, the more my sides split; I couldn’t stay away! It was like watching a Sharkfest train wreck or something! I don’t know, but when I was offered the opportunity to pre-view Sharknado5: Global Swarming, my silly butt jumped. Very High!

So in this episode (HA! Because it feels like a really bad soap opera.), Fin, his robotic wife, and son are called to Parliament in London. Somehow, the world has developed a technological system to not only detect sharknados before they begin, but also crafted weapons to destroy the sharks swarming within it. That’s not the crazy part. It’s not until Fin’s son, Gil, is sucked into a sharknado vortex, that things take a turn for the batty-batty-batty! Now I’m going to do my best, without offering up SPOILERS, my review of this movie.

First, the ridiculously preposterous still stands, along with top names from movie, tv, and show business. People like Nichelle Nichols, Bret Michaels, Geraldo Rivera, Porsha Williams, as well as The Today Show and Good Morning Britain. The puns hit so hard, my lenses cracked, and the poor acting had to seriously be intentional – and still, I watched from beginning to end. Granted I was shaking my head in shame through many of the scenes, shouting inquiries to their actions, and whispering “Oh no” at the end when I saw what was coming.

By the end, of which I’m unsure there will be another one, I found myself shamefully entertained. The movie won’t win any awards, but the franchise sure is making a lot of money! Sharknado 5: Global Swarming airs on SyFy, Sunday, August 6th. Check your local listings!

Cheers!
