Well right off the bat, I’ll tell it like it is, this one was no where as good as the first film. However it’s still entertaining and an overall fun film to watch, but rather than take the story in a fun filled adventure where the trio of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann, would be swashbuckling pirates living having an adventurous and dangerous life on the Black Pearl. The film splits them up most of the time, until we draw to a conclusion where we get nothing but fighting and disagreement among the trio. I expected them to be good friends and have one another’s backs, instead it was a big game of back stabbing. With the end conclusion leaving everyone realizing that they are all friends in an odd kind of way. However I won’t spoil the rather good, and maybe I should mention surprising ending.

The film starts off right where the last one ended. Elizabeth and Will are to be married, however there wedding is spoiled not only by the weather but by the new Commodore of sorts who brings charges up against Will and Elizabeth for helping Jack escape. However Will is offered a deal, rather than be hanged he can go and get Jack Sparrow to hand over his lucky compass, in exchange for freedom along with Elizabeth. Will agree and off he goes searching the seas for Jack. He finds him alright and the adventure begins all over again. Elizabeth manages to escape as well, and meets up with them. The trio are begin the search for Davy Jones’s heart. whoever controls his heart is able to make Davy Jones do whatever they want, reason is Davy Jones and his cursed crew member that resemble sea creatures control the ocean. and anyone who disobeys them meets their fate, along with their ship by way of Kraken attack.

There really is nothing wrong with the film as far as the directing, and acting go. I mean we get a grade A top notch film when it comes to performances and everything, as well as production value. The plot however is pretty loose, as we’re bounced back and forth between all these different locations all over the world, where a different problem arises every time. With each problem that happens the film begins to lose track of itself, just to send us right back into a bigger problem. Pretty much, the film drags at “getting to the point”. And we’re forced to sit though an overload action packed film, when it can simply have been cut a few frames here and there, and got us to the conclusion of the film. Which in fact leaves you hanging at the end, and laughs right in your face; “Sequel”. Yeah this film was just one big set up for the next film, and has no real conclusion at the end, making it more of a Lord of the Rings kind of film.

In terms of special effects, there is a lot, and I mean a lot of CGI, most of it looks very good, except for one scene where it honestly look like Johnny Depp is standing in front of a movie screen. (You’ll know what scene I’m talking about when you see the film.) The make up effects and costumes are once again top notch like the first film. And even the set designs are full with pleasurable eye candy.

Overall, Story wise I expected a whole different kind of plot, so in that sense I was a bit disappointed. However it is a fun and enjoyable film to watch. It’s not as scary as the first film was but it does have it moments. I still like the first film a lot better, but it’s worth checking out just for the sheer thrill that it is a big summer blockbuster movie that you’ll have fun watching.
