MY REVIEW OF FREDDY VS. JASON:
All you horror fan and fans of the “Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” films will be happy with this film. It stays true to the roots of both films and has plenty of blood, guts and gore. Freddy and Jason do not hold back at all when it comes to taking a life.
Some things that bothered me about the movie however was some of the dialogue used, now I know I should not be all crazy about the dialogue, after all it would not be a horror film without bad dialogue, but some of it (especially at the beginning get together scene) turned me off. Then it died off and got better. In my opinion it started off slow, and I wanted to see more of Jason and Freddy. The second act got better and we got more action and even more action towards the end of the film. The fight scenes were classic, I mean Freddy and Jason beat the living shit out of one another. But besides the slow start and the bad dialogue in certain scenes I really don’t have any other complaints.
The Special Effects were pretty good, even the CGI was not pretty good. However yet another stupid thing that I just thought was dumb but many other people might find funny is the Freddy worm. The Freddy worm comes with it’s own Bong, Yeah a bong complete with weed and all, I’m guessing that’s a shout out to all the stoners who will be in the theaters, I just thought it was stupid, yet I did laugh. Some great scenes that use CGI included bodies cut in half, head twisted off, Jason getting thrown around like a pinball by Freddy. Jason kicking Freddy ass all over the place, and Freddy surprisingly enough kicking the hell out of Jason. I don’t want to give to much away, But you’ll see for yourself when you go see the film.
The Acting is not that bad, however I think some of the actors performance stood out over other. Monica Keena was great in the lead role, I was happy with her character. And Density Child Singer turned actress Kelly Rowland was great, yes not only can she sing but this girl can act. Robert Englund was once again great as Freddy.
Overall I liked the film enough to tell people to go see it. It’s not really scary scary, but there are some jumpy scenes and the action is almost comic book like, which I think helps the film out also. The gore is over the top yet is nothing that will gross everybody out. I think even if you don’t like this film , you won’t feel ripped off after you rent it or buy it.
