“Expiration” is by no means a horror film in the fact that it has monsters, serial killers or ghosts in it, matter of fact it’s got nothing in it that would make it quality as a Horror or Sci-Fi film. What made this film scary was it took issues that we all as individuals in this world must face today, such as drugs, suicide, abortion, domestic violence, gay marriages, poverty, violence in general, and even the complications of love. The film is a look though the eyes of three young people that experience all of the above in one night, in situations that no one would ever want to be in. That’s what makes this film scary, it’s real life and these situations can happen to anyone. That’s why I have to rate the scare factor so high, cause I would not want to be put in the environment that these people were put in. Now with that said, I’ll get into why I enjoyed this film so much.
“Expiration” delivers on so many levels, everything from the direction, to the cinematography, to the great acting. from beginning to end this film was nothing but top notch, doing what many other films can’t do. The story got better as it went along. I really don’t want to get into the plot that much, I don’t want to give any thing away. All I got to really is that this film is just plan brilliance. By far the best film I’ve seen this year and one of the best films I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. If there is one film where I want people just to take my word for it and go see it, it’s this one. I’m not sure when or where it will be come available. But there will be a showings thought-out the United States and Canada in limited theaters and showings.
Overall you can really tell how much I really enjoyed this movie, This film is well worth anyone’s time. It’s along the lines of “Donnie Darko”, (Yet not as weird) and “Requiem for a Dream”. My hat is off to the cast and crew of this film.
