Fangoria Americas’ number one horror magazine, had a contest last year where anyone can send in their short horror film and the winners would get their film distributed by Fangoria’s video label. Now there were seven short film on the disc, but rather than go into detail on each film, I’ll just leave it up to you guys to decide which films you like better, most of them are just plan alright, they all have a low budget/B-movie feel to them. Some are better than others, some are scary and some funny and well some of them are just plan dumb.
But what made this DVD worth watching was the special features. The special features alone are well worth the price of the disc. We get a tour of Clive Barkers studio where he paints all his art and comes up with ideas for his stories, He mainly focuses on his Abarat series. But it was cool to get inside the mind of such a great horror and fantasy writer.
The other Special Feature is behind the scenes at Stan Winston’s studio workshop, where all the effects for some of the best horror and sci-fi films came to life. This documentary alone is worth the price of the disc. It gives you the whole rundown on the history of Stan Winston studio and on the man himself.
Overall it’s a pretty decent DVD, but mainly because of the extra features. Worth renting and buying.
